NGOs Ibiza: Non-Profit Organizations and Entities
There are many NGOs in Ibiza that every day support all the people who need help, from those fleeing wars to those fleeing their country of origin to hope for a better future, perhaps without hunger and misery.
But that’s not all, because Ibiza’s NGOs are very active in protecting the island, its coasts and its native nature.
In fact, they have managed to counter the big oil multinationals, they have defended the island from unscrupulous entrepreneurs, they are carrying out campaigns to raise
awareness of the environment and have already made the island an example of eco-sustainability. Below we will tell you about the most well-known NGOs in Ibiza, what they do, aims and objectives.
Eivissa diu no
The first NGO in Ibiza that we would like to point out is also one of the most famous and loved by citizens of the island, we are talking about Eivissa diu no. More than an NGO, it is a citizen protest movement,
created to oppose the oil drilling taking place both on the island, but also throughout the Mediterranean. In a short time, the (peaceful) riots and protests carried out by citizens (e.g. naked people covered in black oil-like oil)
crossed territorial borders and later also national ones.
The result? The Scottish company Cairn Energy, which had started prospecting just 35 miles off the coast of Ibiza, has been blocked.
Over 100,000 complaints and over 500 street demonstrations were used to pass a new law in this regard, contained in the “Document of political commitment for the implementation of a Law for the declaration of the Mediterranean
as a Free Zone for the Prospection of Hydrocarbons” jointly signed by Eivissa Diu No, Eivissa Antipetrolifera, and Alianza Mar Blava.
Today, the organization continues to protect its coastline from drilling, inspections, and mining activities.

Casita verde
We continue with the second NGO in Ibiza created specifically to defend the interests of the island, promote eco-sustainable activities, educate and make citizens and tourists aware of issues related to the environment.
Casita Verde is the “Green House” of Ibiza, a place to discover and learn permaculture techniques, an innovative sustainable and green system that manages to integrate accommodation and landscape in a natural and harmonious way.
It is a real ecological center, which makes available to the visitor all the knowledge of experts and volunteers, ready to teach how to lead a green, eco–sustainable life and above all how to use alternative energies and how to recycle waste correctly.
The Casita Verde center is located in San Antonio, near the Fire Station.
Refugiados Ibiza
Finally, among Ibiza’s NGOs, a city initiative that has warmed the hearts of many people could not be missing: Refugiados Ibiza.
Born from an idea of volunteers and collaborators of Ibiza Conciencia, this association has a noble purpose, which is to help those fleeing the horror of war, hunger and misery.
